I work Tuesday – Friday, so Monday is my sketching day with, what we name ourselves, the Group of 5, PEI.
This small group has been in existence for 5 years, and we sometimes paint collectively on Mondays all through the summer time months. We frequently announce in a Fb group the place we’re going and every other sketchers/painters are welcome to affix.
This previous Monday in Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island, I skilled these magical summer time moments that make outside sketching so particular.
As I drove across the nook and noticed the layered panorama unfold earlier than me, coupled with a vibrant “open” flag, I knew the place the day’s sketch can be
I parked, grabbed my gear, and walked round for a bit, deciding to deal with what impressed me to cease: the signage with the layers of panorama within the background. I arrange my folding stool outdoors the Willow Café, which is situated in a reclaimed church, determined what I would come with, and began sketching.
The solar was shining, and I sat in entrance of an indication that afforded a tiny little bit of shade. I turned fully immersed in my work, barely noticing the vehicles passing by. A number of pleasant people stopped to speak and inquire about my sketch, including to the glad of the day.
It was, what my paint friends and I name, a “finest day ever”, the place artwork and life mix – and I seize a bit little bit of the world round us.
