Day by day drawings for one 12 months — Virginia Romo Illustration

The day-to-day lifetime of knowledgeable illustrator entails much less time drawing than one may suppose. There are weeks when the work solely requires us to write down provides and invoices, handle contracts and taxes, replace the web site, contact shoppers, order materials… However as athletes want to coach and musicians follow their instrument every single day, so we have to train hand, mind and eye. And reserve a little bit of time to check out supplies, concepts…

That is why this 12 months I made a decision to attract no less than one drawing a day “for me” no matter what the work required that day. And I’ve carried it out to the letter. Only a few days I forgot to attract (I believe two days) or to {photograph} and add to instagram what I had drawn that day.

The consequence: lots of drawings. Some higher, some worse, some straight to the trash, others that I will come again to with the intention of analysing them and retake a part of what I like about them.

I’ve used a few of these originals to ship them as Christmas presents to my shoppers and likewise as motifs for the 2022 calendar I’ve created.

There are nonetheless a few weeks to go till 31 December however I can confidently say that I’ve achieved my goal. Now: I am unable to look ahead to the problem to be over 🙂
