NOT on the Street: June 2024 Stay On-line Cloth Collage Portrait Class Half 2

Right now’s number of in-progress portrait collages from my reside on-line class college students are literally all double portraits—based mostly on both a son or daughter with granddaughters, or an old-time sepia “dress-up” picture celebrating a twenty fifth marriage ceremony anniversary, 45 years in the past. Superb recollections now being captured in full-color cloth collage.

This second on-line class of the 12 months targeted on intermediate and superior college students who had been involved in delving into cloth collage portraiture—both to proceed their studying or as a first-time topic—reminiscent of Sara Crocker’s difficult tooth-filled portrait of her daughter, Devon, element above.

If you’re impressed by these or different cloth collage quilts you see in my posts, there may be nonetheless room in our five-day class this fall. Be taught cloth collage reside from the consolation and comfort of your individual dwelling area (as at the moment’s college students did). See the data under.

The identify of my quilt is Adoration. It’s based mostly on {a photograph} of our son Jonathan holding his new child, first child/first grandchild, Juliet. This picture was taken within the hospital room the place Juliet was born, about 2 hours after she was born. 4 granddaughters later (I’ve a complete of 5 granddaughters), this {photograph} nonetheless holds a particular place in my coronary heart, because it marks the start of his journey as a father, and ours as grandparents.

Grace Crocker

From Grace:

My quilt was “My twenty fifth Anniversary Reminiscence.” It was 1979, my husband, Invoice, and I took a visit to Silver Metropolis Nevada, to have a good time. Whereas there we posed for a classic picture. It was in sepia tones so I may make the colours something I selected.  I had enjoyable working with the lacy materials and giving a 3 dimensional taste to the quilt. Simply anxious to proceed with the dapper gentleman.

Sara Crocker

From Sara:

I used to be planning on doing a portrait quilt of every of my 3 grandkids, Anu (20), Nico (17), and Rahul (16). I began with Anu, however she didn’t just like the picture I used to be going to initially work with, and she or he requested for a quilt based mostly on a photograph of her and her mother (my daughter Devon). They’re a particularly shut pair and like to tease one another, so I believed this picture captured their personalities a bit. I had not carried out a portrait of an individual in Susan’s approach but, so wished to make use of this chance to discover ways to collage facial options based mostly on a photograph. Devon’s huge smile was a problem — 21 particular person enamel!! My daughter Devon on the left and granddaughter Anu on proper.
