City Sketchers London: Let’s draw Richmond



So good we’re sketching twice! We’re aiming to scale back the dimensions
of our sketching crowds by repeating this sketchwalk on two completely different
dates.

Be a part of us on both of the dates above to sketch on this
historic and fascinating location beside the River Thames. On the situation map
beneath are the historic Richmond Inexperienced and Richmond Theatre, the traditional Previous
Palace Yard, the spectacle of Richmond Riverside, a vibrant market, and the
choice to climb Richmond Hill to sketch the one view within the nation that’s

We’ll collect by the pink telephones on the nook of Richmond Inexperienced, by the

  • Richmond Riverside  Wander down Water Lane to seek out the River Thames, with its boats,

  • Richmond Palace  Simply off the Inexperienced is the previous location of Henry VII Palace with an
    previous arched entrance which dates from 1501.

  • ‘The View’  Stroll up Hill Rise (about 20 minutes) to the Terrace overlooking
    Petersham Meadows and the River Thames. The view was famously painted by
    JWM Turner, amongst others. It’s a fabulous place to sketch, with a lot
    of benches and The Roebuck Pub for refreshment.

  • Richmond Theatre  On Little Inexperienced is Richmond Theatre, an ideal late Victorian constructing.

1 PM

Meet on the memorial statue of Bernard O’Higgins* for the lunchtime throwdown and group picture. One can find the spot
at Richmond Bridge, accessed subsequent to Invoice’s restaurant. Here’s a small

picture.

Afterwards

We propose the White Cross Pub on the riverside for a drink afterwards.

NB: The towpath could also be submerged! The tide could also be excessive on these dates, with Excessive
Water at 4 to 4.30pm.
