After 4 days targeted on the seashores of Port Macquarie (see earlier articles right here), I believed it was time to go inland. Specifically, I wished to go to the Bago Maze between Port Macquarie and Wauchope.
However first, I had a espresso and sketching session with Meg at Flynns. I couldn’t have a sketching day with out capturing some rocks and waves, might I?
I arrived early and managed to get the one bench within the shade on the seashore. There have been some good sturdy shadows which I began with.
Then as we talked I did a number of line drawings of the seashore with a turquoise Posca – combining them into the one picture.
I additionally began a 3rd unfold however didn’t get to complete this sketch or the web page.
After the seashore sketching session, I picked up my buddy V, and we drove in the direction of Wauchope, heading for the Bago Vineyard. It was a beautiful heat day and the vineyard was very quiet.
Right here is a photograph of the setting – tables within the shade overlooking the maze.
Whereas ready for our coffees, I did a fast sketch of the view.

After which began the large activity of drawing the maze. It was fairly troublesome and I needed to distort it originally with a purpose to match it on my web page.
I believe it took about 45 minutes to sketch this, which is similar to the typical time it takes to undergo the maze.
Here’s a ‘hero shot’ with the maze within the background.
Subsequent, we visited Bottlebutt, a 200-year-old Crimson Bloodwood tree. I don’t like driving on slender, unsealed roads – particularly once I’m alone. So it was good to have a buddy within the automobile to assist spot the dangerous pot-holes.
The tree was very spectacular, with a 16m girth, however I haven’t been in a position to learn the way tall it’s!
It was exhausting to suit on the web page.
Yet one more view of the tree and a few fungi my buddy discovered close by.
At night time, I had one other enjoyable dinner with the gang—this time on the pretty Japanese restaurant Ichi. I used to be a bit too concerned within the dialog to focus on my sketching, so that is an instance of reflex sketching.
One of many guys took my sketchbook to the kitchen to get the workers to signal my e-book. It was enjoyable getting the Japanese cooks to make use of my Japanese Fude de Mannen pen to write down their names!
Such an exquisite day!
