PMQ24: A rainforest stroll and a river drive

I nonetheless have numerous Port Macquarie sketches to share (from the second week!), and it’s very nice for me to be publishing these sketches now in the course of the Australian summer time vacation (trip) interval. I’m again at work, however seeing all these seaside sketches is giving me a summer time vacation vibe.

On this article, I’ll share the sketches from Monday and Tuesday of the second week.

I made a decision that I wanted to do one thing different than simply visiting seashores and cafes, so I went on a rainforest stroll and drove south to the Camden Haven River. After all, I nonetheless visited and sketched at seashores and cafes!

Shelly Seashore:  I began doing just a few research of rocks as my desired spot to sketch from (the ‘caravan’ picnic desk) was occupied.

Fortunately, the person sitting there moved on shortly after I arrived, so I may relocate.

There isn’t a lot shade at these seashores within the morning, so this spot is ideal!

Right here is the sketch I did from this spot wanting south. Shelly is such a stupendous seaside – my favorite to sketch at throughout this journey.

It was then time for Brunch and one other smashed avo – this time at Roam.

Within the afternoon, I went to Sea Acres Rainforest and walked the boardwalk, stopping thrice to sketch.

The 2 horizontal strips have been pure experimentation – layering media and making an attempt to create texture. Plenty of occasions, I needed to look forward to the web page to dry, and as you will notice beneath, I pushed the Alpha paper past its restrict.

I used to be invited to dinner by Meg’s mother and father (we lived on the identical avenue rising up), and so I managed a fast 20-minute sketch at Flynns beforehand.

Right here is the web page that describes the mixed-media experiments, a go to to Highlight to get some patterns and cloth, and two fast sketches to seize moments from dinner. It was a beautiful night – thanks, C and J!

One other day and one other sketch of Shelly seaside to start out the day. Oh ah! I really like this place and I used to be SO having fun with doing all these seaside sketches.

Then it was time for one more smashed avo at a distinct cafe. I went again to Bandwagon, and because it was busier than my first go to, I managed to get some individuals in my cafe sketch!

I wanted a second espresso and ended up again at Coast. I used to be sitting at a desk away from the view, so as soon as once more, I used to be in a position to attract individuals.

I then drove south alongside the coast. I used to be pondering of sketching at Lake Cathie or Bonny Hills (locations I bear in mind from childhood seaside holidays), however I couldn’t discover a great spot at Lake Cathie, and main roadworks and delays at Bonny Hills made me reluctant to cease.

However I did cease by the Camden Haven River and sketch North Brother – extra layer experiments. Subsequent time, I’ll attempt to drive as much as the North Brother lookout and sketch the view from there.

One other lengthy delay on the drive again, a map and a unusual home at Lighthouse Seashore.

Dinner with my mates V and V and extra sketching at evening. As soon as once more I had numerous enjoyable interactions with the workers and we bought dessert on the home (on the situation that I sketched it!)

One other two fantastic days of solo sketching throughout the day and socialising within the night.
