By the point you learn this submit, Hurricane Milton can have hit the coast of Florida. Two weeks in the past, throughout my class in Bar Harbor, Maine, it was one other hurricane watch as three college students in my class dwell in Florida. And within the time between, we’ve all heard extra concerning the devastation that Hurricane Helene brought on in different states, particularly in North Carolina, only a couple hours drive over a mountain from the place my dad and mom lived for a few years. I’ve been pondering rather a lot about folks I do know or have met, these I’ve taught and locations I’ve visited—picture above, was taken from the top of the Naples Pier.
In February 2016, I taught in two places in Florida—St. Augustine and Naples—each of which have been named within the path of this latest hurricane. A couple of years earlier, I taught in Sarasota, Florida, now a projected landfall for Milton.
This Throwback Thursday submit sends out fond reminiscences of my Florida lessons, needs of security to all, and pictures of colourful and eccentric material collage art work—good remedy at any time—to appease and distract when wanted.
